March 2017 work party – chippings
Spring has sprung in the woodland.
Work parties will be held on the first Saturday of the month 10am – 12 noon (weather permitting) commencing on:
When? Saturday 5th May
Saturday 2nd June
Saturday 7th July NB National Meadows Day
Where? Meet in the Clearing in Montefiore Woodland.
What? Tasks : Hopefully we will receive a delivery of wood chippings to spread along as many pathways as possible. Shovels and wheelbarrows will be useful. The clearing of shoots of Alexander will also need urgent attention as the warm sunshine has resulted in an explosion of growth. Plus our on-going litter collection.

When? 5th Aug Big Butterfly Count.
Where? Meet in the Clearing in Montefiore Woodland.
What? To count the number of butterflies seen in the woodland for the national survey big butterfly count.
Plus an opportunity to see a variety of moths trapped in the local area from the night before.

Community Evening Bat Strolls around the woodland and in the local area.

Bat Strolls are held on the LAST Friday of the summer months.

Friday 31st Aug 7:30pm PLUS the opening of our NEW Moth Trap kindly funded by Michelle Fenner from the Councillors Community Fund.

Where? Meet in the Clearing in Montefiore Woodland.
What? An informative talk regarding bats in the local area followed by a gentle strong within the woodland, along the alleyways to King George VI Park, then returning back to the woodland.
